No, we are not. Rustic Love is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
Our Board of Directors evaluates our budget every quarter and earmarks donations to organizations we have vetted as a group. To see a list of organizations we have given grants to, check out our Recipients page.
In the spring of 2020, our fundraiser started with one Vienna family and their neighbor making rustic wooden heart signs in the backyard, with proceeds donated to help feed local food-insecure families.
It's a simple symbol of love and support - an open heart. It represents a desire to help those in need.
Unfortunately, yes. Food insecurity impacts tens of thousands of area residents in Fairfax County alone. In many adjacent communities, the need is even greater. As of March 2022, the Fairfax County government reported that there are 74,000 food insecure residents in Fairfax County and 60,000 children qualifying for free and reduced meals in Fairfax County Public Schools.
You can donate financially (we take most forms of payment), or donate your time as a volunteer. We welcome all kinds of volunteers - whether it's help with finding grants or assistance at heart yard sign builds. We appreciate all the assistance and support we get from our community!
